M&A sits at the heart of this strategy, making this an exciting moment for a commercially minded deal professional to step into a high-impact role with real exposure to senior leadership and complex transactions.

Reporting into the Head of M&A, the successful candidate will play a hands-on role across acquisitions, divestments and wider strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving and coordinating M&A activity across the group, supporting transactions from early-stage evaluation through to completion
• Helping shape the broader investment agenda by identifying attractive markets, themes and potential targets
• Developing market insight and pipeline analysis to inform both M&A execution and wider strategic planning
• Actively sourcing opportunities in partnership with senior business leaders and corporate development colleagues
• Managing complex workstreams and multiple stakeholders, including investment banks, legal advisers and consultants
• Assessing financial value, deal structures and commercial upside, including synergies and integration considerations
• Producing high-quality investment materials and clearly articulating deal rationale to senior decision-makers
• Building effective working relationships with target businesses and their leadership teams
• Supporting divestment processes, from preparing businesses for sale through to transaction execution
• Reviewing diligence outputs, highlighting key risks and influencing deal strategy and negotiation approach
• Contributing M&A expertise to wider strategic, financing and corporate initiatives as required

The Ideal Candidate

• Strong transaction background gained in advisory, private equity or an in-house corporate development role
• Solid technical grounding in M&A combined with the ability to apply judgement and commercial insight
• Confident communicator, able to influence and challenge senior stakeholders with clarity and credibility
• Relationship-driven, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and geographies
• Resilient and organised, able to manage pressure, ambiguity and multiple deadlines
• Strong written skills with advanced capability across Microsoft Office tools

We are delighted to be partnering with a high-growth, private equity–backed retail and consumer brand that is expanding internationally and seeking to appoint a Financial Controller. With operations across multiple markets and channels, the business is scaling rapidly and requires a strong finance professional to lead reporting, consolidations, and financial control while supporting strategic decision-making.

The Role

As Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the group’s financial control, reporting, and consolidation processes while supporting strategic planning and commercial decision-making. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will manage a small junior team and work closely with leadership, external stakeholders, and private equity investors.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where you will be both a guardian of financial discipline and a driver of process improvement, efficiency, and value creation.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading monthly consolidated reporting across multiple entities and geographies.
• Preparing management accounts, board packs, and investor reports.
• Overseeing external audits, statutory compliance, and tax filings.
• Driving budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning processes.
• Partnering with senior stakeholders to analyse performance, margins, and working capital.
• Developing and improving financial controls, processes, and reporting frameworks.
• Managing, mentoring, and developing a small finance team.
• Supporting projects including integrations, system improvements, and growth initiatives.

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a strong technical background and post-qualification experience.
• Proven background in group reporting, consolidations, and financial control.
• Experience in a PE-backed, retail, consumer, or multi-channel environment is highly desirable.
• Excellent Excel and financial modelling skills, with the ability to provide clear analysis and insight.
• Confident communicator with strong influencing skills across senior stakeholders and investors.
• Hands-on, adaptable, and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing team members.
