Job Description

We are currently working with a FTSE 50 Business looking to add a Group Head of M&A. This role will be responsible for providing strategic analysis, advice and operational support to the CFO and Management Board and to manage all major acquisition, investment and divestment activity. This opportunity will also play a key part in formulating the strategy for the group. 

Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Strategic Input: Using inorganic activity to drive the Group Strategy forward in an efficient manner
  • Execution: Manage a portfolio of projects from inception to conclusion - deploying the resources in the M&A function to achieve the best result
  • Obtaining Buy-In: Recommend M&A Activity to the Management Board
  • Rigorous selection: Identify Merger, Acquisition, Disposal Targets, Potential deals for the Group which make strategic and financial sense, managing the relationships of these targets
  • Growing People: Continue the legacy of M&A in recruiting and developing the highest quality and diverse team possible

Requirements:

  • Credible: Must have the personal credibility to work directly with the CFO and Management Board and to influence both general strategic decisions and M&A decisions
  • Leadership: Proven experience building strong teams required. The candidate will be expected to have built diverse teams, addressed performance issues in a sympathetic manner and will have a roster of successful alumni who have progressed
  • Savvy: Exhibit a strong understanding of business both from a strategic and operational sense to be able to span long-term strategy and short-term deal-making
  • Global: Have a broad mindset, understanding cultural difference, ideally underpinned by global experience.The successful candidate will have worked with, or in, different cultures and will be able to display an empathy for the challenges faced
  • Credentials: Financial background and deal-making experience is essential, through a track record of similar activities underpinned by strong examples. Qualified accountants are preferred. General business training(MBA or equivalent) is also useful for cross-functional view of business strategy Communication: Strong communication and influencing skills
