We are delighted to be partnering with a global, fast-growing pharmaceutical company that is expanding its team and seeking to appoint a Head of Tax. With operations across multiple jurisdictions, the business is experiencing rapid growth and requires an experienced tax professional to ensure compliance, optimise efficiencies, and support strategic decision-ma

Reporting into the CFO, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s tax function, working closely with senior leadership, finance teams, and external advisors. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the organisation’s tax policies and managing complex cross-border tax matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing a global tax strategy aligned with the company’s business and regulatory objectives.
  • Overseeing corporate tax compliance across all jurisdictions in which the group operates.
  • Advising senior leadership on international tax matters, with a strong emphasis on transfer pricing and intellectual property structuring—critical in the pharmaceutical sector.
  • Managing and enhancing the group’s transfer pricing model, particularly around R&D hubs and IP ownership.
  • Supporting strategic business decisions through tax planning and risk management.
  • Providing input on the tax aspects of M&A activity and licensing agreements.
  • Leading tax-related projects, including R&D incentives, IP exposure, and global structuring.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
  • Ensuring compliance with local GAAP and IFRS.

The ideal candidate:

  • CTA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong experience in UK and international tax, including compliance and advisory.
  • Experience advising on cross-border tax issues, IP transactions, and managing global compliance.
  • Working experience with IP-related tax matters, such as R&D tax credits, patent box regimes, and IP structuring.
  • Proven ability to work with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to operate strategically while executing effectively.
