Head of Accounting – CFO-1 (m/f/d)

The client is an international software company with a growing global footprint and increasing transaction volumes. As the organization scales, strong accounting foundations, compliance, and financial governance are critical to continued success.

The Role

The Head of Accounting will lead all accounting activities and ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and scalable accounting processes. This role combines operational excellence with leadership responsibility in a growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the accounting function
• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Ensure compliance with German GAAP (HGB); support IFRS reporting if required
• Prepare statutory financial statements and manage audits, tax advisors, and external partners
• Oversee revenue recognition and accounting for subscription and transaction-based revenue streams
• Establish and improve accounting processes, internal controls, and documentation
• Work closely with FP&A and senior finance leadership to ensure alignment between reporting and planning

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in accounting, including leadership responsibility
• Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB); IFRS experience is a plus
• Background in high-growth companies preferred
• Experience managing audits and working with external advisors
• Hands-on, structured, and detail-oriented approach
• Fluent in English; German proficiency required
