We are excited to be retained by a leading European manufacturing group that is undergoing a significant transformation. This industry leader is committed to innovation and sustainability, continuously enhancing its product offerings to create a better future. Playing a key role in delivering high-performance solutions, the business has been recognised for its innovative approaches to material reuse and eco-friendly product development.

This is an exciting time for the organisation as it strengthens its market position and accelerates its sustainability agenda, reinforcing its role as a key player in the European manufacturing landscape.

As a result of the company's ongoing changes and drive towards improvement, the need for a Financial Controller has arisen. The successful candidate will oversee financial operations and lead key projects for the Netherlands branch. This position will involve managing reporting, forecasting, and compliance, while serving as a key leader with several direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the month-end close process, ensuring that both local and group reporting is completed accurately and on time, including all necessary submissions.
  • Conducting detailed financial performance analysis to identify areas for improvement and driving positive changes.
  • Reviewing and validating Opex and procurement savings to ensure alignment with company cost-saving targets.
  • Assisting the local management team in optimising working capital, enhancing overall financial efficiency.
  • Coordinating and supporting the year-end audit, ensuring that all processes are compliant and accurate.
  • Preparing consolidated financial statements for the Netherlands Group, ensuring consistency and precision across all reports.
  • Managing ad hoc reporting requests, often driven by group needs, including tax-related submissions and other financial reports.
  • Supporting the budgeting process to ensure it aligns with both operational objectives and financial goals.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of a standard costing framework to enhance cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Ensuring monthly balance sheet reconciliations are performed accurately to maintain the integrity and transparency of financial data.

The ideal candidate

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including IFRS and local GAAP, with prior experience in accounting roles within the manufacturing sector being essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of Dutch tax law and its practical application within a corporate environment.
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to take full responsibility for financial outcomes and processes within the business.
  • The ability to perform effectively under pressure, continuously improving productivity and optimising time management to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate both simple and complex financial concepts, and influence stakeholders to drive improvements in the financial performance of the plants.
