Assistant Finance Controller

The business is currently looking to expand its finance team with an Assistant Financial Controller who will ensure compliance and support performance improvements. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily financial management, including reporting, forecasting, tax, audits, and legal compliance, while advocating for cost and cash optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the month-end close process, ensuring accurate submissions for both local systems and group reporting, and preparing the consolidated financial statements for the Netherlands Group.
- Analysing financial results to explain performance trends and driving improvements, while validating Opex and procurement savings to achieve financial targets.
- Assisting the local management team with optimizing working capital and overseeing the preparation of monthly cash flow and outlook forecasts.
- Supporting the year-end audit process to ensure compliance and accuracy, and assisting in the budgeting process to align with the company’s financial goals.
- Preparing and managing ad hoc reports, typically group-driven, such as tax-related submissions, and assisting with the creation of a standard costing framework.
- Ensuring monthly balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately to maintain financial integrity.
Candidate requirements
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP, with experience in accounting roles within the manufacturing sector
- In-depth understanding of Dutch tax laws and regulations, with the ability to apply them effectively in a corporate setting.
- Experience in financial analysis and managing working capital, driving improvements and optimising cash flow for business growth and operational efficiency.
- Proven ability to take full ownership of financial processes and business outcomes, with a strong sense of responsibility and decision-making authority.
- Strong communication skills to articulate both straightforward and complex financial concepts, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive financial performance improvements across the site.
